Fast growing to 25 feet. Medium green leaves of
medium texture. Red buds are followed by flowers in yellow clusters, arriving in
summer months. Red caps fall from tree as yellow flowers appear.
The woody seed
capsules that result from the flowers may stay on the tree for years, until they
dry out enough to release their contents.
One of Australia's many native gum trees,
so-called because of their sticky, aromatic sap.
